As I got up from my bed, I felt a gush, and instantly knew that my water had broken. It wasn’t a big gush, and since it was my first pregnancy, I doubted myself. I called my sister, who is also a doula, and she recommended Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-11292089392447094802008-11-30T09:30:00.000-08:002008-11-30T10:28:23.353-08:00Thankful, Not Guilty"I'm about to collapse," I told him. "My body is just so tired!" My husband dutifully took our daughter from me and ordered me to bed. "Let me take her and you go sleep," he told me. I trudged back to the bedroom feeling relieved, but also feeling guilty. Wasn't it my job to take care of her? Am I a failure as a mother because I can't handle this stage of hers? You see, the last couple of Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-64605809606870081062008-10-18T08:48:00.000-07:002008-10-18T09:19:53.680-07:00Catching UpYes, I finally did give birth. It was long and not the birth I had planned, but now I have a beautiful daughter to hold in my arms, and despite the let-down I felt at having to birth at the hospital instead of the birth center, and having to be put on pitocin and eventually receiving an epidural when I wanted a meds-free birth--despite all that, I am glad she's come and it was totally worth it. I am definitely looking forward to the birth of my daughter. Not only because I am looking forward to meeting her and holding her and all that good stuff, but also because, quite frankly, I'm a little tired of being pregnant. I'm sure there are other moms-to-be who feel the same, and that's why I'm not afraid to admit it. You see, about the middle Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-33172269881206183142008-07-25T07:49:00.001-07:002008-07-25T07:49:33.549-07:00LeahGracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-42918455697971885482008-04-27T11:04:00.000-07:002008-04-27T11:21:34.486-07:00Little UpdateWow, is has been WAY too long since I've updated! I know, no one's really reading, but if someone happens to stumble upon this, I don't want them to think I'm a loser who doesn't blog anymore. So here is a little update of what I've been up to lately:I guess the biggest news is that I'm pregnant. This has accounted for my lack of posting, as I have been incredibly exhausted and my brain has Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-26141799940826452562008-01-05T13:07:00.000-08:002008-01-05T13:18:25.210-08:00EmotionlessIt's a bit of an oxymoron for me. Or rather, I'm a bit of an oxymoron. You see, my cousin died today. No, not the one who lives with me. I'd be a bit more hysterical if she died.I wasn't very close to this cousin, but I came to the hospital to give support to my family. And while everyone around me was blurry-eyed, puffy-faced and holding each other, I just sat. I stared out the window. With most books, I can't think of a title until it's completely finished. Even without meaning to, I tend to develop themes--or rather, the stories themselves have a theme but I don't discover it until I've completed it. So... here goes. The book is the first in a series of mysteries, and I can't think of anything better to Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-31276500800897102062007-12-31T11:52:00.000-08:002007-12-31T13:20:31.642-08:00I don't want to be HERE, either...This is a long one, so brace yourself.I suppose this is a bit of a continuation of my last blog. I said I wanted to keep morals and spiritual insight in my writing, but there also needs to be a healthy balance. For the sake of being kind, I will leave names out, but I just finished reading a book that I have already read. I read it years ago--I was probably still in high school (I know, that Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-88470044035496347782007-12-29T16:57:00.001-08:002007-12-29T17:12:57.151-08:00Let's all hope I don't end up here.My favorite author and mentor, Robin Hardy, has quite the sense of humor. I was looking over her site and found this. After having a good laugh at the parodies, the thought came to me: What if one of those books were mine? No, this isn't a sermon on why we shouldn't make fun of people online... though I'm sure that's an important topic that should probably be addressed.Ok, back to my point. It has Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-43441054609406749752007-11-25T08:33:00.000-08:002007-11-25T08:38:05.147-08:00New Book!Inspiration and a week off from work are two wonderful tools that allowed me to finish a book this week. It was an old story that I revamped and made mo' betta. It's a lot more interesting now. I even have a starting idea for a sequel. It needs a name, though, so if anyone would like to read it and let me know if you have a name for it, I'd appreciate that. Here's a few key points...Girl in Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-1862967628419308772007-11-17T17:36:00.000-08:002007-11-17T17:46:09.117-08:00Another SampleHere is another sample of my writing. This is all me--no co-writers. Please comment! Let me know if this interests you. I can email you the chapters I have so far. This book is almost done, but I need help deciding how it should end. Before I wanted it to be my career, I wrote for fun. My writing has matured (I hope!) from when I was a kid, and the struggles I deal with have also matured. For instance, it is nearly impossible for a writer to get signed onto a publishing company without already being published. This means paying for a POD (Publish On Demand) or going to lots of conferences, or Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858476199363131580.post-72909359888147538672007-10-24T23:35:00.000-07:002007-11-17T16:23:47.058-08:00Burn the Excuses!Ok, so I know no one is looking at this, but I just wanted to write something. Since I don't really feel like using Word and I want to feel like maybe someday SOMEONE will read this, here goes.Fires have been raging for about four days now. Now, a blog. I don't even blog on my myspace. But honestly, I'm here because my former drama director, now author, who made quite an impact on me in my youth, recently started a blog here. She asked that we (her readers) comment on her blog. I honestly wasn't sure how, so I just started clickingGracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18032717773141859159noreply@blogger.com0
